Residency Showing & Holiday Party 2024
Residency Artists
Residency Showing is back, and everyone is invited!
Residency is a structured multi-year program that provides artists/groups with resources and time to take their project from the idea stage, to finished works. Residency Showing is an integral part of this program, where audiences can meet the artists wherever they are in their process. This is a great opportunity to get a sneak peek of what’s in development at The Theatre Centre.
Your attendance plays a critical role in the creation of these new works.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
The Unfamiliar Everything
A multidisciplinary performance by Stewart Legere/The Accidental Mechanics Group, created in collaboration with queer artists from across the country, The Unfamiliar Everything is an experiment in communication across genre, distance, and time. It delves into the generative power of loneliness, the intricacies of queer spiritualities, and the radiant constellations of kinship. Through this extraordinary confluence of artists, the performance will weave story, sound, imagery and mythmaking into an experience that invites audiences into a shared space of wonder, connection, and possibility—opening a portal to something vast, intimate, and human.
Stewart Legere
Stewart Legere is a queer multidisciplinary artist from Punamu’kwati’jk/Dartmouth, where he lives with his partner, their cats, and a small flock of spirited chickens. He is the Associate Artistic Director of interdisciplinary contemporary performance company ZUPPA, and the Co-Artistic Director of queer performance ensemble The Accidental Mechanics Group.
His work has been presented across the country and around the world. A writer, singer-songwriter, composer and performer, he finds great joy in hosting, running, walking, cooking, arguing, drinking wine, writing, and exploring the nooks and crannies of melancholy and other such things. His work celebrates performance, vulnerability, and the dismantling of personae. He thrives in the messy excitement of collaboration. He has very good friends. For more specifics follow him @stewartlegere.

About Residency
Residency is a structured two-year program (sometimes longer!) providing groups/artists with the necessary space, funding and mentorship to craft ideas still in their infancy into finished works that are provocative, innovative, and ambitious. We look for good ideas, drawing us to projects led by directors, designers, composers, choreographers, architects, visual artists, and even a neurologist. Residency facilitates a highly collaborative artistic process that starts by asking what do you need? Learn more about Residency.
Residency is generously supported by BMO Financial.
Showings start at 7pm, followed by the Holiday Party!
