The Theatre Centre is currently seeking a temporary Events Coordinator (Canada Summer Jobs)! The Event Coordinator will be assisting the Café/Bar Manager and Associate Artistic Director in management and promotion of all event bookings at The Theatre Centre, including ancillary events at NXNE (June 9-15) and Summerworks Festival (August 11-17). This role will ideally begin in early May with some flexibility around the start date.
Events Coordinator: Temporary 15-week position (Canada Summer Jobs)
Hours: 30 hours/week
Pay: $20/hour
Start date: May 2025

The Theatre Centre will be accepting applications and interviewing on a continuous basis until the position is filled.
Responsibilities:
- Strengthening community relationships by serving as a member of The Theatre Centre’s Café/Bar team (approximately 15 hours/week, including some evening shifts)
- Liaise externally with presenters, festival partners, and rental clients on event logistics, including organizing site visits, coordinating contracts and payments, and be point of contact for external parties
- Communicate client needs internally and coordinate with Café/Bar team, Box Office/Front of House team, and Production team, on event logistics such as set up and staffing, etc.
- Generate promotional material for Café/Bar events, and coordinate with the Marketing and Communications team on event promotion
- Assist Café/Bar Manager and Associate Artistic Director in managing client relationships and generating new rental revenue
Qualifications:
- Must hold an active Smart Serve certification
- Must have or be willing to obtain Food Handlers certification
- Interest in arts administration, event planning, and producing.
- Excellent organization, time management, and writing skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Drive.
- Experience with Graphic Design (Canva and Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset
- Ability to work on-site with opportunities to work occasionally from home during off-peak periods as needed.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Candidates must:
- Be between the ages of 15 to 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,

As the Administrative Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Associate Managing Director and Audience Experience Manager to support general administration for The Theatre Centre and its community programming events. The successful candidate will develop varied skills including data entry, event planning, fundraising, and general administration while gaining insights into working in Toronto’s arts non-profit sector. Administrative Assistant: Temporary 12-week position (Canada Summer Jobs)
Hours: 30 hours/week

Responsibilities:
- Strengthening community relationships by helping patrons in the box office with ticketing and general questions about the organization (approximately 10-15 hours/week)
- Supporting the Associate Managing Director with event planning for The Theatre Centre’s annual fundraising event in June
- On-site event support for The Theatre Centre’s artistic and community programming (some evenings required)
- Collecting statistics and testimonials to help the Associate Managing Directe create the annual impact report
- Assisting the Associate Managing Director and Communications team to execute the end-of-year fundraising campaign in June.
- Archiving important events onto The Theatre Centre’s new WordPress website
- Assist with data entry to maintain donor and patron files in our internal database system (VBO).
- Support Associate Managing Director in maintaining filing systems, both electronic and hard copy.
- Other administrative and event support duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Interest in arts administration, event planning, and producing.
- Excellent organization, time management, and writing skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Drive.
- Experience working with CRM systems (VBO), websites (WordPress), and email marketing platforms (Sendgrid) is an asset.

Responsibilities:
- Create an internal outreach list for different audience segments within the Greater Toronto Area
- Survey the West Queen West neighbourhood, strengthening relationships with local businesses, residences and condo buildings surrounding The Theatre Centre.
- Execute online and grassroots promotions including (but not limited to): postering, direct-mail, community events (i.e. Community Meal).
- Work alongside the Marketing department to assess new and existing partnerships by analyzing successes and shortcomings, and suggesting opportunities for improvement.
- Execute a video project introducing audiences to The Theatre Centre and its people.
- Assist in the creation of digital content including photography, videography and graphic design.
- Assist in online promotion of The Theatre Centre’s activities, specifically on TikTok.
- Track social media analytics to inform The Theatre Centre’s communications strategy.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to experiment with new forms and content across various social media platforms.
- Create a final report based on outreach development and findings on audience growth.
Qualifications:
- Able to act as an ambassador for The Theatre Centre and its ongoing activities.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the community.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms and Google Drive is an asset.
- Experience working with and writing for various communities in mind
- Experience working with WordPress (or similar webhosting platforms) is an asset.
- Experience creating dynamic platform-specific content for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
- Interest in arts and entertainment marketing as a future career.
- Ability to work remotely from home and on-site as needed.
