The Book of Judith
The Book of Judith is a musical play about a self-anointed preacher who is passionately driven to change the lives of others before changing his own. After a chance meeting with a quadriplegic woman named Judith Snow, theatre artist Michael Rubenfeld believes he has “seen the light.” With the help of his director and her best friend, who is blind, Michael corrals a fully integrated choir of performers of varying abilities to help him preach “The Book of Judith” and convert the audience with his inspirational (yet deeply suspect) tale of Judith Snow.
After premiering in 2009, in co-production with The Theatre Centre, and a subsequent successful Ontario tour, this provocative, transformational performance comes to the state-of-the-art Abilities Centre, which promotes inclusive and innovative programs for people of all ages and abilities.

“Theatre has proven to be a more powerful venue than advocacy for having ordinary people understand, experience and choose to be inclusive – to welcome diversity into their own lives.” – Judith Snow
“[The Book of Judith] is a socially minded, soul-mending public spectacle of the stand-up-and-shout variety and, at the risk of sounding more of a cheerleader than critic, I encourage you to see this and to lend to its charming crusade your own energy. You never know: miracles happen every day.” – Byron Laviolette
