TRACTOR - this is a dance
TRACTOR is our vehicle
dance is the work
cultivation in progress
PREVIEW this season’s model invented by choreographer MAXINE HEPPNER with parts engineered by dance artists Jia Yi (Judy) Luo, Katie Adams-Gossage, Lukas Malkowski, Natalia Arancibia, Oriah Wiersma, Rajvi Dedhia, Rumi Jeraj, and others who may be needed depending on seasonal conditions.
A tractor is a versatile vehicle used primarily in agriculture. Its moving parts perform specific tasks that nourish seed growth.
“In the past few years, several kernels of movement have consistently lived in the dance that I do. These kernels have been almost invisible yet essential. I know they are there. I use them – often. I plant them at the base of gestures, sprout small shoots to fill gaps between phrases, allow fronds to grow long enough to become adornments. But, well, more and more they are rebelling against quiet loyal servitude, insisting to me that they themselves are unrealized seeds of potential dances. So, I invited this ensemble of joyful movers to join me in giving the kernels time and space to grow…and Tractor is our vehicle.”
