Crate Stories Live

On Saturday, May 11th, Crate Stories Live returns with an exclusive exploration into the life and music of the legendary Saukrates. Hosted by Toronto Rap Aficionado, Arcee, this intimate conversation will journey through the prolific career of Saukrates—from his groundbreaking early works in the ‘90s to the anticipated new single, “Driftin’”, produced by Gil Masuda and set to drop worldwide on May 17th, courtesy of Love Touch Records.

Saukrates is a multi Juno nominated & multi MMVA winner and is a name synonymous with Toronto’s vibrant music scene. He boasts an illustrious career filled with global tours, including stints with Nelly Furtado, and collaborations with giants such as Nas, Method Man & Red Man, Drake, and many more. As a founding member of The Circle and the lead voice of Big Black Lincoln, his influence spans decades, and genres.

Gil Masuda, a passionate vinyl enthusiast, founded Love Touch Records, handling its in-house production and quickly establishing the label in the international Modern Funk scene. In its debut year, the label expanded its reach to over 15 countries and secured a global vinyl distribution agreement with Fat Beats (LA). Additionally, Gil has a publishing deal with Stones Throw Records as a writer and producer.

Crate Stories, a talk series curated by Loop Sessions Toronto, celebrates the art of vinyl collecting and its impact on DJing and music production. The event has seen luminaries like Jake One, Marco Polo, K-Cut from Main Source, and Dan Charnas of Dilla Time share their insights, standing as a testament to the series’ significance in the city’s music community.
