Prince Hamlet
A Why Not Theatre production in association with Soulpepper Theatre
Not yet two months after the death of King Hamlet, the Queen has remarried and Hamlet struggles to understand how the world and his mother are able to move on. Visited by the ghost of his father, Hamlet is directed to avenge his death by killing the murderer—his uncle, now step-father, and King. Prince Hamlet was Why Not Theatre’s debut production 10 years ago. We return to Shakespeare’s classic, reimagined by Aristic Director Ravi Jain, with Christine Horne in the title role.
“It might just be the perfect introduction to one of the greatest plays in Western theatre for the uninitiated.” – Torontoist (2007)
“Why Not Theatre is a great addition to the Toronto scene because clearly whatever Jain and his cohorts put on stage will be unpredictable.” – The Globe & Mail (2007)
