Announcing an exciting new concert series

Tiny Concert Series for Torontonians is a new initiative at The Theatre Centre, presenting free and low-cost music events over the next several months!

This performance is part of events that we’re calling our Tiny Concert Series for Torontonians, increasing the community’s access to shared arts and culture experiences. The music programming will span a range of genres including R&B, soul, reggae, and jazz and will feature the dynamic talents of local musicians.

We’re kicking off this new initiative with three concerts, taking place all around the building:

May 16, 2026 — John Kameel Farah — Franco Boni Theatre
May 26, 2026 — Stewart Legere — Theatre Centre Café/Bar
June 2, 2026 — Astral RIDDIMS — Green Roof & Patio
July 17, 2026 — Jay Douglas — The Theatre Centre’s Community BBQ & Hangout
July 21, 2026 — Adria Kain & Dre Ngozi — Green Roof & Patio + Gallery
July 28 + 29, 2026 — Zaki Ibrahim — Green Roof & Patio (Details coming Soon!)

Known for making music that defies any one genre — the distinguished singer, songwriter, and producer Zaki Ibrahim brings two concerts to The Theatre Centre!

July 28 at 7pm — Beat-driven, outdoor house party style concert with set will consisting of rhythms that nod to Afro-house, inspired by modern African sounds and diasporic influence. The DJ set by Zano will be a sampler platter of the Afro-sub-genres that make there way into urban pop and afrobeats, spreading through the global market and social media trending sounds.

July 29 at 7pm — Piano and song concert including selections from Zaki Ibrahim’s five studio albums as well as songs written and featured on various recordings across several genres of music. Piano accompaniment will be by Michael Shand.

June 21, 7pm — Adria Kain & Dre Ngozi — Green Roof & Patio + Gallery

This Feels Like Home is an intimate concert experience celebrating Adria Kain‘s latest body of work through music, photography and visual storytelling. The evening explores the idea of home—not only as a place, but as a feeling found within ourselves, our memories, and the people who shape us. Guests are invited to experience a curated gallery before gathering outdoors for a live performance that brings the album to life in a warm summer setting.

May 16, 7pm — Songs of Liberation by John Kameel Farrah

John Kameel Farah is a Palestinian-Canadian composer who combines elements of Baroque and Arabic music, improvisation and electronic soundscapes, to create music he calls “Arabic-Baroque-Futurism”. In his concerts, he draws on themes of resistance, liberation and Near-Eastern history, sharing his perspectives on the Palestinian identity.

May 26, 7pm — Stewart Legere

A writer, singer-songwriter, composer and performer whose work celebrates vulnerability and the dismantling of persona—The Theatre Centre is proud to present an intimate night of music with Stewart Legere!

Join us at The Theatre Centre Café/Bar for songs and stories. The East-Coast songwriter Legere will play a collection of new songs, selections from his 2017 debut QUIET THE STATION, and more.

June 2, 7pm — Astral RIDDIMS

Get ready to groove under the stars at Astral RIDDIMS! Join us for a night of incredible music and good vibes at The Theatre Centre Green Roof and Patio.

Let the rhythm guide you as you dance the night away with friends old and new. Neighbours in the next door condo, watch from your patios! Grab a lawn chair and sit around The Theatre Centre. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable event.

Friday, July 17, 2026 5-8 pm — Community BBQ & Hangout — Featuring Jay Douglas!

Three-time Juno Awards Nominee Jay Douglas is a celebrated icon in Canadian music, recognized for his remarkable influence across reggae, ska, soul, blues, and jazz. We are thrilled to have him take the stage at our Community BBQ!

Community Meals are a long-standing tradition in The Theatre Centre community. Our 2024 Community BBQ was a huge success: we planned for 300 guests and ended up feeding 800, and we’re all set to welcome even more people this summer.

Made possible through the City of Toronto’s ‘Community Celebration Support Fund’, this outdoor event will feature hot dogs (while supplies last), hamburgers, and live music!
