Written by Neha Poduval & Himanshu Sitlani, Produced by Nautanki Bazaar, Presented as part of Why Not Theatre‘s RISER Project

UPDATE: The Theatre Centre has made the difficult decision to close our building to the public as of Monday, March 16, 2020 until Sunday, April 5, 2020, inclusive. We have chosen this period in line with recent recommendations announced by Toronto Public Health. For the full update click here.

The upcoming RISER Project 2020 has been cancelled

The box office will be contacting all ticket holders for An IMM-Permanent Resident with the following options:
– To convert your ticket into a donation. Your support can make a big impact and we ask that you consider donating the value of your ticket(s) for a charitable donation receipt.

During this time, we ask for your patience as we reach out to ticket buyers to process donations and returns. Any ticketing inquiries should be made via email to [email protected]. General inquiries should be directed to [email protected].

A comedy infused with Bollywood elements, An IMM-Permanent Resident is a hilarious take on the mundane and tiresome bureaucracy of the Canadian immigration process, as experienced by playwrights and real-life couple, Himanshu and Neha. An IMM-Permanent Resident explores the irreverent journey in obtaining Neha’s PR status, including the couple’s trials and tribulations as they put their hopes and dreams on pause (indefinitely). Join them on this roller coaster ride as they transport us between Mumbai and Toronto, while navigating the immigration system and asking themselves—is love worth it all?

An IMM-Permanent Resident is presented as part RISER Project, a collaborative producing model created by Why Not Theatre with the generous support of RBC Foundation, TD Bank Group, and the Government of Canada. RISER is also supported by Aluna Theatre, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, Cahoots Theatre, Factory Theatre, fu-GEN Asian Canadian Theatre Company, Modern Times Stage Company, Necessary Angel Theatre Company, Nightwood Theatre, Roseneath Theatre, Shaw Festival, Theatre Passe Muraille, and The Theatre Centre. The first three years of RISER Project were made possible by Toronto Arts Council’s Open Door program.
