Five women ride the physical and emotional storms that surge within us.
Award-winning choreographer Nova Bhattacharya’s new work is a revealing investigation into the uneasy alliance between the mind and body. Featuring Bhattacharya and four of Toronto’s most mesmerising dancers—Kate Holden, Molly Johnson, Atri Nundy and Malar Varatharaja—Infinite Storms ecstatically embraces all of the hurts and joys that life has to offer.

Sari Up! The Art of Wearing a Sari
January 26–28 from 7:15pm, prior to Infinite Storms at 8pm
January 29 from 3:15pm, prior to Infinite Storms at 4pm
Nova Dance’s Sari Squad will be on hand to assist you in wrapping, pleating, and pinning – all the key skills required to wear a sari with style. We’ll have a handful of saris for you to try out, or you can bring-your-own sari from home and get some tips on taking it from the back of your wardrobe to the front of the line!
No pre-registration required, just show up and BYO a sari if you have one!

the brain sends messages to the body – telling it what to do
the body sends messages to the mind – telling it what to feel
the mind feels emotional pain – the body responds
and yet, so often the two seem to work in opposition:
the mind wants to stop, the body won’t let go
the body falls apart, the mind fights to stay alive
this – this is what I mean by uneasy alliance
My own experiences with chronic migraine and its physical and emotional symptoms brought me to a place where the only way I could survive was to accept the pain and make peace with it – and this allowed me to look at the experience as a universal one. Grief, depression, addiction, insomnia and exhaustion – I have an intimate window on the internal storms every human being experiences and as an artist it is my job to give voice to this through my work. We can all find ways to live, love, and laugh despite what life throws at us. We don’t do it alone, we take our strength from others; the collaborators who join me on this journey have been a part of my creative world for some time now. We are creating a work for you to encounter with your own experiences and sensibilities, a dance that celebrates life and all it has to offer.
