We’ll also be serving up some holiday treats and the bar will be open if you’d like something festive to drink! Residency Showings are an opportunity for our Residency artists to share their work during development and to embrace the dialogue that emerges as part of the creative process.

Stewart Legere has been working on a massive collaborative project between The Accidental Mechanics Group and queer artists from across Canada. The team includes musicians, choreographers, poets, dancers, projection designers, and performance artists. The Unfamiliar Everything is an exploration of the pains and beauties of queer loneliness, queer spirituality, and a celebration of the chosen family.

Ian Kamau is a Toronto-based writer, designer, and music artist. In Residency Ian has plunged into an exploration of mental illness, told through the story of his grandmother Nora Elutha Rogers. Co-written by Ian, his father writer Roger McTair and with composer Njo Kong Kie, LOSS confronts a history of mental illness and uncovers the touching story of Kamau’s paternal grandmother.

Rimah Jabr has been working on a fictional documentary play, Broken Shapes. Each short play is based on research about space; physical and mental space. We meet a young woman in a city that has been occupied for decades. On the day of her father’s funeral, she discovers his architectural drawings. Broken Shapes is a hybrid theatrical experience between installation, video and performance that explores how physical surroundings affect us mentally.
