Staging Palestine: A Cultural Intifada on Turtle Island

Produced by Theatre Artists for Palestinian Voices

Theatre Artists for Palestinian Voices presents Staging Palestine: A Cultural Intifada on Turtle Island, a powerful offering of performances, readings and music showcasing Palestinian artists while raising funds for Fragments Theatre, a cultural centre in the West Bank dedicated to children, women and youth.

Hosted by Monique Mojica and Roula Said, the night begins with an Indigenous-led opening ceremony and will feature work by playwrights from Nablus, Haifa, Gaza, Jerusalem and the diaspora, including Sami Ibrahim, Ameer Idreis, Rimah Jabr, Dalia Taha and Samah Sabawi. In solidarity with Indigenous theatre artists on Turtle Island, Staging Palestine highlights the rich diversity of Palestinian stories.

We are also offering a free teach-in on Friday afternoon which explores: how cultural boycotts work; the values of artists in resistance; and how these connect to colonial resistance here on Turtle Island, in a relaxed space open for questions, brainstorming and genuine discussion.

Join us in celebration of Palestinian life and resilience.  ‘Intifada’ means uprising. As we bear witness to genocide and ethnic cleansing, this is our artistic uprising; this is our ‘Cultural Intifada.’

“The third intifada, the coming intifada, should be cultural, with poetry, music, theatre…”

Juliano Mer Khamis, Founder, Freedom Theatre
